Stewart Leslie Gordon Jr, 38, was shot and killed on Halloween night 2017 at a house on Burton Avenue in west Macon, Georgia, a residence authorities described as a narcotics den where methamphetamine and heroin were sold and used. The shooting followed an argument during a drug transaction after $14 went missing. Witnesses who were reportedly intoxicated said the sellers blamed Gordon; the argument turned physical when one man punched Gordon and knocked him off the front porch.
According to accounts, Gordon produced a utility knife and 21-year-old Jace Tyler Jenkins retrieved a bolt-action .22 rifle and shot Gordon once in the chest. Jenkins called 911; Gordon was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where he was pronounced dead. Jenkins was identified by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, arrested at his nearby home, and initially charged with murder. He later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by eight years of probation. The victim’s mother, Susan Gordon, addressed the court, forgiving the killer and speaking about addiction’s role in both men’s lives.
Does anyone have information about Burton Avenue or the people present that night that could add clarity to what happened?
