On September 13, 2017, 18-year-old Arraffi Williams was shot near the intersection of East 31st Street and Bee Road in Savannah around noon and died at the scene. Police say the shooting was part of an exchange of gunfire between two groups; at least one person from each side fired, and Williams was struck during the chaos. Investigators concluded that the actions of 17-year-old Tanaiveon Johnson during the incident directly led to Williams’s death.
Less than a day after the shooting, a warrant was issued for Johnson on charges of felony murder and three counts of aggravated assault. He was arrested on September 21, 2017, at Edgewater Trace Apartments on Abercorn Street in a joint operation by the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department SWAT team and the U.S. Marshals Service. Authorities also arrested 24-year-old Euasia Rhoe for allegedly harboring Johnson and were seeking 25-year-old Isiah Smalls for allegedly helping hide him.
If anyone witnessed the shooting or has information about the events that afternoon, please share what you know.
