Frederick Deon Cade, 44, was found dead on Peachtree Street in Washington, Georgia, in the early morning hours of August 14, 2017. The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation later determined Cade’s death was a homicide. An autopsy described a single bullet that entered and exited his right arm, then re-entered his torso and struck his lung and heart, causing massive hemorrhaging.

The case grew out of a complex set of personal relationships. Cade was married to Shakevia Graves; tension existed between Cade and Richard Stroud, Jr., the father of Shakevia’s eight-year-old son. Jarvis Lamont Milton was involved through a long-term relationship with Shakevia’s twin sister, Shanevia NeNe Graves. On the night of the killing a confrontation occurred at the Graves grandparents’ home after a car chase and a physical altercation among Cade, Stroud and Milton, and Cade was shot.

Arrest warrants were issued the day Cade’s body was found; Jarvis Milton was taken into custody that afternoon. Milton and Stroud were later indicted on malice murder, felony murder and firearm charges. Milton was convicted on all counts in May 2019; Stroud was acquitted of malice murder but convicted of felony murder and possession in November 2019. The Georgia Supreme Court later affirmed both convictions in April 2024. Does anyone have information about Cade’s final movements that night or about witnesses who were at the grandparents’ house?
