On Thursday afternoon, June 22, 2017, 24-year-old Uylesis Marvin Brown was shot on Wheel House Lane in Monroe, Georgia. Officers found Brown with a gunshot wound to the chest; he was taken to Clearview Regional Medical Center and later died from his injuries.

Within minutes of the shooting, a suspect was taken into custody at a residence on Mill Creek Way. Thirty-three-year-old Manual Lajun Hector was arrested and later charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Police described the event as an altercation that escalated into a fatal shooting.
