In early March 2017 two Fort Stewart soldiers were found dead inside a Hinesville townhome after police received an anonymous tip. Twenty-one-year-old Private Malika Jackson and 23-year-old Specialist Marquez Brown were discovered lying in a pool of blood. Initial accounts mentioned a large knife, but the official autopsy determined both victims died of gunshot wounds.

Investigators said a party had taken place at the apartment the night before and friends had seen both soldiers alive on Sunday morning; police reported no obvious signs of a struggle inside the residence. The probe focused on members of the military community. Sergeant Shaquille D. Craig, 24, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder; authorities described the motive as personal between Craig and Jackson, and said Brown was an unintended victim. Specialist Phillip E. Thompson was charged with party to the crime of murder, accused of providing Craig with transportation to and from the scene.

If anyone knew Malika, where she worked or socialized, or has information about that Hinesville townhome the night before the killings, please share what is known.
