On the afternoon of Thursday, March 2, 2017, gunfire in a Jonesboro neighborhood ended the life of 49-year-old Phillip Goodman. Police responding to a call on Susan Lane found Goodman unresponsive; neighbors said they heard shots and saw a man dragging what appeared to be a body to the rear of a house.
Investigators identified 44-year-old Cornelius Burnley as the suspect. Authorities say a dispute between Burnley and Goodman escalated into fatal violence. Burnley was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault and was held at the Clayton County Jail; a judge denied bond.
Who in the neighborhood remembers events from that afternoon or has information about the dispute that led to Goodman’s death?
