Derante Tae Bailey, 22, of McDonough, was shot to death outside a home on Simpson Street on February 13, 2017. Police were called about 8:30 p.m. after neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots and found Bailey in or near a car with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. An obituary published days later gave his name as Deronte Bailey, age 22, and confirmed the date of death.
Family members described him as caring and quiet, and reports portray his death as a sudden act of violence that shocked neighbors and relatives. McDonough police later named Byron Terrell Howell, 38, as wanted in connection with the killing, saying he had three warrants and warning he should be considered armed and dangerous; they suggested he might be in Griffin or Atlanta’s Kirkwood area and could be driving a black Dodge Charger or Challenger with black or gray rims.
Did anyone in the community hear or see anything that night, or have information about Bailey’s death or the person named by police?
