Standard Dean Sweet, a 57-year-old Black man, was found with a gunshot wound outside a tavern on Central Avenue in Capitol Heights, Maryland, on March 19, 2011. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, where he died shortly after arrival from his injuries.
The Prince George’s County Police Department opened a homicide investigation into the shooting in the tavern’s parking lot. Investigators have faced challenges in the inquiry; to date no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced. Authorities have periodically appealed to the public for any information that could help solve the case.
If anyone has information about the circumstances at the tavern that night or observed anything in that area on March 19, 2011, please contact the Prince George’s County Police.
