Grace McCook Hancock, 51, of Moultrie, died from a single gunshot wound at a hunting cabin in Webster County, Georgia, on Friday, December 30, 2016. She had been resting on a sofa when a relative behind her was handling a .30-06 rifle and the firearm discharged. Emergency personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation opened an inquiry and the Webster County Coroner, Steven Hubbard, pronounced Hancock deceased. After examining the scene and interviewing those present, authorities determined the shooting was a tragic accident and that there was no malicious intent; no charges were filed.

What details about that day might help explain how the rifle discharged while people were gathered in the cabin?
