Late on November 28, 2016, 19-year-old Kyree Shakur Smith was found inside a black passenger car in the McDonald’s parking lot on Hamilton Mill Road in Dacula, Georgia, suffering from a gunshot wound. A call to police came in at 8:46 p.m.; witnesses heard a gunshot and saw Smith’s car lurch over a curb onto a small embankment. The restaurant manager and a responding Gwinnett County police officer attempted CPR before paramedics rushed Smith to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he later died.

Another 19-year-old who had been in the vehicle was unharmed and cooperated with investigators. Witnesses reported a red passenger car, later identified as a Nissan Sentra, leaving the area after the shooting. Investigators explored whether the incident was drug-related.

Authorities later named 21-year-old Deveric Trevez Hardy of Tennessee as wanted in connection with Smith’s death and charged him with felony murder, aggravated assault, and drug offenses. Hardy was arrested and booked into the Gwinnett County jail on December 23, 2016, held without bond on murder, aggravated assault, and a marijuana purchase charge.

Did anyone see the red Nissan Sentra or have information about that night in the Hamilton Mill area?
