Michael J. Harvey, 39 and a father of nine, was shot and killed on the evening of November 10, 2016, in an unincorporated area of Norcross, Georgia. After his vehicle was involved in a collision, Harvey approached a Honda Odyssey minivan to check on its occupants. As he neared the driver’s side door, the driver, Demetrius Lamar Heade, leaned back and fired a single shot from a Winchester rifle that struck Harvey in the chest. Harvey was found lying in a northbound lane of Button Gwinnett Drive and later died at a hospital.
The minivan had been stolen; Heade and his passenger, Tilisha Lakelia Tate, fled the scene. Investigators later located the abandoned vehicle and recovered the rifle in a nearby ditch. Heade and Tate were wanted in connection with an earlier homicide in Alabama and were arrested in connection with both killings. Tate told police Harvey had been trying to check on them and that she did not feel threatened by him.
Has anyone with knowledge of the area or who was in Norcross that night seen anything that could shed more light on what happened?
