Joshua Turner Norred, 36, was shot dead at the Stay Inn and Suites on Davidson Parkway in Stockbridge, Georgia, during the early morning hours of Saturday, September 10, 2016. Norred, a former owner of Kut Throat Tattoo Parlor and an employee of Caterpillar, Inc., was struck at least three times when a masked man approached and opened fire around 8:00 a.m. The shooter fled by vehicle, and the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office launched an immediate homicide investigation.
Authorities identified Cary Raymond Duke Jr. as the primary suspect, obtained a warrant, and warned he was considered armed and dangerous. U.S. Marshals located Duke at a Hampton Inn in Conyers on Thursday, September 15, 2016, and took him into custody without incident. What details about Norred’s last hours or possible motive have not been publicly explained?
