Rico Bledson was 39 when he was shot on the front porch of a Chinook Court home in Flowery Branch, Georgia, on the evening of August 6, 2016. Police were first called about a suspicious person; a second call shortly afterward reported a shooting. Bledson suffered a single gunshot wound to his upper chest and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

The Flowery Branch Police Department, assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, treated this as the city’s first murder in nearly five years and canvassed the area and followed numerous leads. Investigators did not immediately identify a suspect or a motive, and it was unclear whether robbery was involved. The case later went cold and remains officially listed as an unsolved homicide. Bledson’s family offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

If anyone has information about what happened on Chinook Court that night, please share it with the Flowery Branch Police or the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
