Malik Hassan McAllister, 43, was shot and killed in Albany, Georgia, on July 17, 2016. The shooting occurred about 1:14 a.m. in the 1900 block of West Gordon Avenue. Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot, then seeing McAllister stagger near the road and collapse. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
The Albany Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit opened an investigation and asked the public for information. Friends and family remembered McAllister as kind-hearted with a joyful spirit, and said his death came as a shock while noting he had been going through difficult times. In August, authorities identified Edwin Reeves Jr. as a suspect; on August 16, 2016, Reeves was arrested at an apartment on West Gordon Avenue and charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with McAllister’s death.
If anyone knew Malik or has information about the shooting, please share what you know.
