Dewenzel James Spence, 41, was abducted on his walk from his southeast Atlanta home to the Five Points MARTA station on May 31, 2016, while en route to his job at Hormel Foods. Witnesses or surveillance show two men forced him into a minivan, drove him to a Bank of America ATM on Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton and compelled him to withdraw cash. After the robbery, Spence was taken to a wooded area off Queens Mill Road and fatally shot. His body, in advanced decomposition, was found on June 3, 2016.

For years investigators had only ATM surveillance images showing two men with Spence, one with his face partially obscured. Those images eventually generated leads that identified two suspects from Cochran, Georgia, then aged 19 and 14 at the time of the killing. The case record also links the suspects to a high-speed chase in Alabama shortly after the murder in a white van similar to the one captured on ATM footage.

If anyone witnessed Spence’s abduction, the ATM encounter, or the van in the area around Veterans Memorial Highway and Queens Mill Road that morning, please share what was seen.
