A family dispute in Macon, Georgia, in February 2016 ended in the fatal shooting of 58-year-old Harry Lee Williams at his home on Joseph Waller Drive. Investigators identified Harry’s brother, 62-year-old Alton Williams, as the primary suspect. Authorities say an argument over the selling of prescription pills and a disagreement about a sum of money between $150 and $300 escalated after Harry returned from a transaction, and that Alton shot Harry in the chest with a shotgun.

Alton was arrested and charged with his brother’s murder and was held in the Bibb County jail without bond as the case proceeded. In October 2016, while still in custody, Alton Williams died at the Medical Center, Navicent Health; the coroner listed respiratory failure as the cause of death.

Are there local readers who knew the Williams brothers or have information about the events that led up to this shooting?
