On January 1, 2016, 36-year-old Kawammi Jackson, an African American man, was found fatally shot on the front porch of a residence in the 400 block of West 60th Street in Savannah, Georgia. His body was discovered just before 4 p.m., and authorities treated the death as a homicide.
Investigators identified an acquaintance, 32-year-old Ronnie Nicholson, as a suspect and obtained a murder warrant. Nicholson was located and arrested without incident by the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force on January 2, 2016, and taken to the Chatham County Detention Center. Prosecutors also charged Nicholson in connection with alleged terroristic threats he had made against staff at the Crystal Beer Parlor, which had closed temporarily while authorities brought him into custody.
Funeral services for Jackson were held at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Richmond Hill. If anyone knew Jackson, his movements that day, or has information about the threats or the shooting, please share what was seen or heard.
