Seventeen-year-old Rocquan Kemon Scarver was shot on the evening of December 10 in the area of 39th and Burroughs streets in Savannah, Georgia. He was taken to Memorial University Medical Center but died of gunshot injuries.

Detectives later identified a suspect. In early March the following year, law enforcement located and arrested 37-year-old Karonta Shamone Morrell, and a Chatham County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Morrell with Scarver’s murder. Morrell was also indicted in a separate fatal shooting.

Morrell was tried before a jury and convicted on all charges related to Scarver’s death; the conviction was later affirmed by the Georgia Supreme Court after Morrell challenged the trial court’s evidentiary rulings.

If anyone knew Rocquan, was in that neighborhood the night he was killed, or has information about the shooting, please share what is known.
