John K. Williams was 22 when he was shot and killed near the intersection of Sterling and Wheaton Streets in Savannah on November 11, 2015. He was found with a gunshot wound and died after being taken to Memorial University Medical Center. Authorities said the shooting grew out of an ongoing dispute.
Investigators identified 26-year-old Reginald Johnson as a suspect and obtained a murder warrant. Police described Johnson as a Black male about 6 feet tall and 140 pounds, known to frequent the Fred Wessels Homes and believed to drive a white 2007 Chevrolet Impala or Malibu. Law enforcement warned he was likely armed and dangerous.
Johnson surrendered to Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police the day after the warrant was issued and was arrested without incident and charged with murder. Few public details have been released about the feud that led to the shooting.
Did anyone in the community know John Williams or have information about the dispute that preceded his death?
