Shan’eku McCurty, 25, was killed on October 23, 2015, after stopping at a Chevron on Redan Road in Stone Mountain, Georgia, around 1:00 a.m. She had been returning to her vehicle after a purchase following her shift as a barber when three teenagers allegedly accosted her in an attempted carjacking and robbery. When McCurty resisted, one of the assailants shot her multiple times. She was taken to a nearby hospital and later died of her injuries.
Investigators identified three teenage suspects: 16-year-old Cameron Williams, 16-year-old Jermaine Grant, and 15-year-old Demonte Grant. The Grant brothers surrendered days after the shooting and Williams soon turned himself in. All three were charged as adults; a grand jury indicted them on malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault. In December 2015 Williams pleaded not guilty and the Grant brothers’ arraignment was set for later that month.
Shan’eku McCurty was remembered by the community for her vibrant spirit and kindness. Did anyone see McCurty that night or have information about the events at the Chevron on Redan Road?
