Anthony Barber was 25 when his body was found behind a vacant house in the 1700 block of Ricardo Street in Valdosta, Georgia, in August 2015. The victim had sustained several gunshot wounds to his torso.
Investigators identified Timothy Bernard Wiggins Jr., also known as Nim-Nim, as a suspect and located him in Miami in September 2015; U.S. Marshals arrested him on an outstanding warrant and extradition to Lowndes County followed. At trial in March 2018, three witnesses testified that Wiggins was the shooter; one witness said Wiggins called Barber a snitch and a snake. Prosecutors noted Wiggins had shaved his head and fled to Miami. The defense highlighted inconsistencies in witness descriptions and there was no physical evidence such as fingerprints or DNA linking Wiggins to the shooting.
The jury convicted Wiggins of malice murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; a judge sentenced him to life in prison. Does anyone have information about Barber’s last known movements or the circumstances that led to him being behind that vacant house?
