Lee Marvin Hardeman, 48, was shot and killed on the evening of August 17, 2015, at the Ashford Brook apartment complex on Rockmont Circle in Conyers, Georgia. He was found dead in his truck of multiple gunshot wounds after a verbal altercation with at least one other person. As Hardeman attempted to drive away, a man fired several shots into his vehicle.
Rockdale County investigators identified two acquaintances as suspects: Orlando Cornelius Middlebrooks, then 33, and Latres Deandre Peters, then 25. Authorities said Peters had been involved in the initial argument and that Middlebrooks was believed to be the shooter. Both men were arrested within days; Peters was charged with hindering apprehension or punishment and Middlebrooks was charged with murder. Both were booked into the Rockdale County Jail and initially held without bond.
