John David Hester Sr., 68, was shot after confronting a group of teenagers who had come to rob his son’s home in Norman Park, Georgia. On the night of July 5, 2015, Hester armed himself with a shotgun and went to the end of his driveway. An exchange of gunfire followed; he was hit once in the leg, managed to return 30 to 40 yards to his house, and told his wife he had been shot. He was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center and then transferred to Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, but died about ten hours later on the morning of July 6, 2015, from the wound.
Investigators identified and charged seven teenagers with murder and criminal intent to commit armed robbery: 19-year-old Adrian Robinson; 18-year-olds Brandon Wynn, Christian Glover, Derrick Phillips, TyCameron Hayes, and I-Key Pinkins; and 17-year-old Tykerious Jones. Authorities reported the firearm used had been stolen earlier that day during a separate burglary and that the teens’ original plan was robbery before the encounter turned fatal.
Did anyone in Norman Park witness the confrontation or have information about the events that night?
