The shooting outside Soul Masters Diner in Milledgeville ended the life of 21-year-old Diquan Key in the early hours of June 14, 2015. Around 2 a.m., shots were fired as people were leaving the diner and walking to their cars; Key was fatally wounded and pronounced dead at approximately 3 a.m. Three other people were injured in the same volley of gunfire.
Authorities have described the incident as believed to be gang-motivated, a detail that has hampered witness cooperation. The case remains unsolved and is listed as the oldest unsolved homicide in the city. Key’s mother, Dermetrics Warren, has spoken about her grief and remembers her son as kind, while also acknowledging his gang involvement. The Milledgeville Police Department says it is actively working the case, maintains an anonymous tip line, and has offered a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Did anyone in the community hear or see anything that night, or have information that could help bring answers to the family?
