Otonicar Jimquez Aikens, 39, of Covington, was killed on May 31, 2015, during a shooting at the Magnet Package Store on Bell Road in Conyers. The violence followed an earlier dispute at the store that day, when regular customer Jeffrey Scott Pitts argued with a clerk over an unpaid bill and the clerk retained Pitts’s identification. Hours later Pitts returned armed and opened fire, striking Aikens and store clerk Mun Hyuk Cha; both victims died.

Another customer, Todd C. Scott of Covington, drew a handgun and fired back, which investigators say forced Pitts to break off the attack and flee. Pitts then drove about five miles to his parents’ home on Ebenezer Road, wounded both parents, and later died there of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. No arrests related to Aikens’s killing are reported; the identified shooter was deceased by the end of the same day.
