Edward Allen Buford was 24 when he was fatally shot inside an apartment building at the Villages on the River Apartments on Church Street in Riverdale, Georgia. The shooting occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 23, 2015; officers found he’d suffered a single gunshot wound to the head and recovered a live bullet in a nearby grassy area.

Investigators said a motive was not immediately clear but suspected a possible connection to drug activity. Neighbors in the complex were shaken and called for a stronger police presence to protect children in the community. The investigation identified a person of interest and on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Deangelo Sanchez Knott, a resident of the same complex; he was charged with murder and held without bond after booking, with an additional charge for crossing the guard line with drugs or a weapon.
