Anthony Crawford was 16 when he was shot and killed just after midnight on May 19, 2015, in the Fred Wessels Homes public housing complex in Savannah. Police say a ShotSpotter alert came in at 12:13 a.m.; officers found Crawford on a sidewalk near Burney Drive and East Oglethorpe Avenue with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Memorial University Medical Center and did not survive.

Crawford had already survived a separate shooting weeks earlier. On April 1, 2015, investigators allege 17-year-old Jamari Cartledge pulled a handgun, demanded Crawford’s bicycle and shot him when he resisted; Cartledge was later arrested on aggravated assault, attempted armed robbery and weapons charges in that incident. The public release about the May 19 homicide sought help from the public and did not identify a suspect, nor does it document an arrest, indictment, trial or conviction in the fatal shooting.

Anyone who knew Anthony or has information about what happened that night is asked to come forward.
