Victor Carroll was a 17-month-old boy who died on April 30, 2015, after being struck in the face by a single bullet in a west Bibb County mobile home park in Macon, Georgia. Family called him Little Man; reports describe him as a beautiful child with crystal blue eyes. He was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The child’s mother’s boyfriend, 36-year-old Ronnie Howard, was handling a handgun when it discharged and hit Victor. Howard was initially charged with reckless conduct and second-degree cruelty to children; investigators later upgraded the charge to second-degree murder. Authorities said the handgun had previously been confiscated from Howard and should not have been returned to him, and that drug tests showed methamphetamine use in the days before the shooting.
Howard later pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and a judge sentenced him to the maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. Does anyone have information about Victor’s life or the neighborhood that could add context to what happened that day?
