On the evening of April 25, 2015, in Savannah, Georgia, 21-year-old Rashad Biggins was found lying on the sidewalk at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Henry Street at about 9:41 p.m. He had been shot multiple times and was taken to Memorial University Medical Center, where he died shortly after arrival.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police detectives identified two suspects. In April 2016 authorities arrested 25-year-old Tyrell Smith at his workplace and served a warrant on 20-year-old Arheem Deloach while he was already jailed on an unrelated murder charge. Deloach was charged with malice murder, felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Smith was charged with conspiracy and as a party to malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault.
In August 2017 a Chatham County jury found Arheem Deloach guilty of malice murder in Biggins’ death as part of a prosecution that linked this killing and another as retaliatory. The conviction prompted posttrial appeals and rulings that affirmed in part and reversed in part aspects of the trial court’s judgment.
If anyone knew Rashad Biggins or has information about the shooting, please share what is known.
