On the evening of April 13, 2015, police in Savannah, Georgia, answered a shots-fired call to a residence on the 1200 block of N.E. 36th Street and found three men inside who had been fatally shot: 30-year-old Garry Bernard Mells, his 52-year-old brother Anderson Mells Jr., and 37-year-old Johnnie Jamar Green. Officers initially detained two persons of interest but released them after questioning. Investigators described the killings as a targeted event and said they were looking into risky activities at the residence as a possible connection.

The investigation later involved multiple agencies, including the Savannah Police Department’s Undercover Narcotics Investigation Unit, the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team, and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force. A cold case review led to arrests in August 2021 and indictments of three suspects on felony murder and malice murder charges. Those charges were dismissed in August 2024 after the prosecution determined evidence and testimony were compromised by the indictment of two former officers in unrelated matters. The killings remain unresolved; does anyone have information about the 2015 incident or the victims’ activities at that address?
