On April 13, 2015, gunfire at a home in the 1200 block of N.E. 36th Street in Savannah, Georgia left three men dead. Thirty-seven-year-old Johnnie Jamar Green was killed alongside his cousins, 52-year-old Anderson Mells and 30-year-old Gary Mells. Police responded about 8:30 p.m.; two people stopped in a vehicle leaving the area were detained and later released. The case went cold and families were left without answers for years.

The Savannah Police Major Crimes Unit later reopened the investigation. In August 2021 a Chatham County grand jury returned indictments charging three men with felony murder and malice murder in connection with the killings: 38-year-old Stanley Hall, 29-year-old John Baker, and 39-year-old Jerrell Williams. Arrests were made with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Savannah Police SWAT.

In August 2024 the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office dismissed the murder cases, citing alleged misconduct by two former Savannah police officers who were then under indictment for perjury and violation of their oath of office. The dismissals left the families still seeking answers. If anyone knew Johnnie Jamar Green or has information about the April 2015 shootings, please come forward.
