A violent home invasion in Macon, Georgia, left 40-year-old Sylvester Harden Jr. dead. On the morning of February 19, 2015, two masked men forced their way into a Nisbet Drive residence intending to confront another man who was the father of an 11-year-old girl. When that man fled, the intruders turned on Harden and beat him in the head with a firearm; the gun discharged during the assault but did not hit anyone. Four other children were in the house and witnessed the attack; some ran to a neighbor for help. The assailants fled with the 11-year-old in a Chrysler 300 driven by a 25-year-old relative, Yolanda Butler.
The child’s grandmother and Butler returned the girl to the scene shortly afterward, and Butler was taken into custody. Passard and Cater were found at an apartment complex with the getaway vehicle and arrested. The attackers reportedly acted on a false accusation of child molestation against the man who had fled. Harden was taken to a hospital in critical condition and died the next morning, February 20, 2015. The three suspects were later booked on murder and multiple aggravated assault charges and denied bond.
Anyone who knew Harden or saw activity on Nisbet Drive that morning is asked to share information.
