Ulysses Paul Pitts, a 42-year-old African American man, was killed on January 7, 2015, at his home on McCall Road in Macon, Georgia. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where he was pronounced dead. Two grandsons were in the house during the incident but were not physically harmed. This was Macon’s first homicide of 2015.
Investigators tied the killing to a robbery after money was taken during what is described as a home invasion. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office identified two suspects and obtained arrest warrants for Sherod Holston, 24, and Antwan Denard Johnson, both of Macon, on charges that included felony murder and armed robbery. Holston turned himself in and was booked into the Bibb County jail. Johnson was located at the Discovery Inn on Chambers Road after a tip to Macon Regional Crime Stoppers and was arrested without incident; he also had outstanding warrants for family violence, terroristic threats, and cruelty to children.
Anyone who knew Ulysses Pitts or has information about the robbery and shooting is asked to come forward.
