On New Year’s night 2015, four to six gunshots were heard at the gated Reserve at Ivy Creek apartments in Buford, Georgia. Gwinnett County police found 22-year-old Reginald Bien-Aime slumped over in the driver’s seat of his car in the back of the complex; the driver’s-side door was open. Bien-Aime did not live at the complex but was described by nearby business owners as a cool guy and a good kid who was trouble free.

Police identified Quindarius Keshun Morton, known as Q, as a suspect and Morton turned himself in a few days later. He was charged with felony murder and aggravated assault. Morton’s attorney said Morton was in the backseat and acted in self-defense, claiming Bien-Aime drew a weapon and was the initial aggressor; that account was presented at a preliminary hearing that sent the case to Superior Court and left Morton jailed pending further proceedings.

Police said the investigation was ongoing and that additional warrants could follow. Did anyone in the Buford area know Bien-Aime or observe activity around the complex that night?
