On December 31, 2014, 18-year-old South Paulding High School senior Gage McGee was found dead in the driver’s seat of his car on Bryan Miller Road near a water tank in Paulding County, Georgia, the result of a gunshot wound to the chest. Investigators determined the meeting that night had been arranged as a marijuana sale. McGee drove to the secluded water tank area and met two teenagers, 16-year-old Randy Deforrest Frederick and 15-year-old Trent Lee Jacobs, who walked to the location.
According to the investigation, Frederick and Jacobs produced a handgun with the intention of robbing McGee; during a struggle McGee was shot. He managed to get back into his vehicle and tried to drive away for help but succumbed to his injury and crashed a short distance from the scene. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, identified Frederick and Jacobs as suspects. On January 1, 2015, both teens spoke with detectives and were arrested and charged as adults with murder, aggravated assault, and armed robbery; authorities recovered the suspected murder weapon, reportedly owned by a relative of one of the accused.
Did anyone who knew Gage or who was in the Bryan Miller Road area that night see anything relevant?
