Harriette Jacobs, 53, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head at her home on Golden Creek Circle in Warrenton, Georgia, on October 10, 2014. Her husband, John Alan Jacobs, reported finding her on the back porch in a rocking chair and initially described the death as a suicide. Investigators, however, reported multiple inconsistencies at the scene: the handgun near her body had very little blood on it, Harriette’s hands showed no gunshot residue, and the medical examiner said the shot was fired from at least six inches away. Drops of blood were also described on John’s shoe.

The couple was in the middle of divorce proceedings, with a court date scheduled six days after Harriette’s death. Friends told investigators that Harriette had expressed fears for her safety and described threats from her husband. John Alan Jacobs was arrested and charged in connection with her death; jurors later found him guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and he received a life sentence plus an additional five years for the firearm conviction.

Does anyone have information about Harriette’s life in Warrenton or details that might shed light on what happened to her?
