A high school homecoming in Fairburn, Georgia, ended in tragedy on October 3, 2014, when 17-year-old Kristofer Hunter was shot in the Langston Hughes High School parking lot after the game. Hunter, who was a student at McClarin High School in College Park at the time, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and died of his injuries. Friends remembered him as a loving teen with a great smile and contested rumors that the shooting was gang-related.
The Fulton County school police quickly identified two suspects. An arrest warrant was issued for 18-year-old Eric Dana Johnson Jr., who later turned himself in to the Fulton County Jail. A second suspect, 19-year-old Antione Twon Stephion Battle, was sought on an outstanding felony murder warrant; authorities considered him armed and dangerous until he was located and taken into custody in Sarasota, Florida, in January 2015 on the Georgia warrants.
If anyone attended the Langston Hughes homecoming or has information about the events in the parking lot that night, please share what was seen or heard.
