On the morning of September 27, 2014, a dispute between two men at a gathering at the Olde English Apartments in Fort Valley, Georgia, erupted into gunfire that spread into a crowd. Twenty-three-year-old Demontarius Quin Lewis, a Black/African American man, had just left a friend’s apartment when he was struck by a bullet and later died at a local hospital.
The scene grew more chaotic as partygoers fled; a 21-year-old man, Darrell Cullens, was hit by a silver Ford Mustang with a black canvas top in a hit-and-run. Investigators asked the public about that vehicle and its occupants, whom they believed were witnesses to the shooting. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation assisted the Fort Valley Police Department as detectives interviewed witnesses and collected evidence, but no arrests were announced.
Lewis’s funeral was held October 4, 2014, at Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church in Morrow, Georgia. If anyone has information about the shooting, the hit-and-run Mustang, or the people who were at the Olde English Apartments that night, please share what is known.
