Nizzear NayQwuan Rodriguez was shot and killed in his grandmother’s townhome in Carrollton, Georgia, on August 24, 2014 — a day after his 13th birthday. He was asleep in his bed when a bullet struck him in the head. Nizzear attended Carrollton Junior High School and was described as a happy, caring child who loved basketball, football and video games and liked to cook breakfast for his cousins on Saturday mornings.
Within hours of the slaying, authorities arrested four people: 17-year-old Malik Davis, 21-year-old Kenneth Wheat, 24-year-old Jackquline Leann Freeman and 34-year-old Oleida Ward. Investigators say Davis and Wheat entered the home intending to commit a robbery and that Nizzear was not the intended target; Davis and Wheat reportedly fled afterward in a vehicle driven by Freeman. Davis and Wheat were charged with murder, burglary and home invasion; Freeman was charged with murder; Ward was charged with making false statements to police.
Does anyone have information about Nizzear, his routine, or the area around the grandmother’s townhome that could help clarify what happened that night?
