On July 20, 2014, Wreno Dantoine Fain, 28, was shot after leaving the Lexus Lounge nightclub in Rome, Georgia. He had arrived at the club with a friend, Christopher Robinson; Robinson waited in his Jeep while Fain went inside. Shortly after, three shots were heard and Fain staggered to the passenger side of the vehicle saying he had been shot and needed to go to the hospital. As Robinson tried to help, a man later identified as Jamal Nevin Foreman approached with a gun. Foreman aimed at Robinson but the weapon jammed or misfired; he then circled the front of the Jeep and fired multiple shots at Fain, who fell to the ground. Two eyewitnesses identified Foreman and he confessed; he was arrested and charged in the killing.

A Floyd County jury found Foreman guilty of malice murder, reckless conduct and unlawful discharge of a firearm in February 2017. The court sentenced him to life without parole for murder, concurrent 12-month terms for the other convictions, and a consecutive five-year term for firearm possession. The Georgia Supreme Court later affirmed the convictions on appeal.
