Arkeen Abron, 29, was shot and killed on July 18, 2014, in Savannah, Georgia. He was in a truck on the 1200 block of East Seiler Avenue when an altercation turned to gunfire. Police found Abron and another man, 37-year-old Showkey Barnes, with gunshot wounds; both were taken to a hospital and Abron was pronounced dead while Barnes survived with serious injuries.

Investigators identified 38-year-old Leonardo Lamont Anderson, known as Scoochie, as the alleged shooter and sought him as armed and dangerous. A woman, Alisha Nicole Cooper, was later arrested and charged with hindering Anderson’s apprehension. Anderson ultimately surrendered to authorities and was indicted by a Chatham County grand jury on malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and a firearms charge. A jury found Anderson guilty of felony murder in Abron’s death and aggravated assault of Barnes; he received life without parole plus additional consecutive terms. Anderson’s appeal to the Supreme Court of Georgia was denied in October 2019. Anderson died on April 20, 2024, at age 49.
