Marshal Tucker, 48, was shot and killed around 11:45 p.m. on a Monday evening at the Harbor Lakes Apartments on Roosevelt Highway in Fairburn, Georgia. A woman who was with him was also struck; she survived and was taken to a local hospital listed in stable condition. When officers arrived, Tucker was found deceased at the scene.

Investigators identified the woman’s 44-year-old ex-boyfriend, Terry B. Marshall, as the primary suspect and said jealousy over Tucker’s relationship with Marshall’s former girlfriend was the apparent motive. A search led to Marshall’s capture the following Tuesday evening in Valley, Alabama, and he was arrested and held for extradition to Georgia. He was charged with murder in Tucker’s death and aggravated assault for the woman’s injuries.
