Delarrion Tremayne Smith Jr., 18, was shot and killed during what authorities described as horseplay at a residence on Andorra Drive in Hephzibah, Georgia, on Monday, November 11, 2013. Smith, a Hephzibah High School student and member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church who was known as DJ, was taken to GRU Hospital and pronounced dead at 7:21 p.m.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Smith had gone to give a friend, 19-year-old Dominique Shaquille Sullivan, a ride. The two began to horseplay and Smith reportedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Sullivan. Sullivan then took the gun, removed the magazine, and, believing it to be unloaded, pointed it at Smith and pulled the trigger. A round that remained in the chamber fired and struck Smith.
Sullivan was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and pointing a weapon at another person. Does anyone have information about that night or the people involved that could shed more light on what happened?
