Tiffany Danielle Bishop was 24 and a probation officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections when she died on August 31, 2011, in Jackson, Georgia. She was participating in a firearms training exercise at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison when a loaded firearm was accidentally discharged and she was fatally wounded. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but died while en route. Bishop had been with the department six months and had followed a family tradition of law enforcement service.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation led the inquiry into why a live weapon was used during the training. Reports say the firearms instructor, described as a veteran, was traumatized; investigators concluded the shooting was accidental. The trainer later pleaded guilty in connection with the fatal shooting. Bishop was remembered for her infectious smile and dedication to family and her profession.
