Luz Zamora-Alferez, a 45-year-old man originally from Mexico, disappeared from Homestead, Florida, on September 1, 1984. At the time he had been living in Bonita Springs and was reportedly planning to take a Greyhound bus to Brownsville, Texas, but he never arrived and no one has heard from him since.
He was described as having a salt-and-pepper beard, brown eyes, a large mole on the left side of his chest and a scar on his right leg from an axe injury. Family said he was a heavy smoker who preferred Argentine and Winston cigarettes. Dental and fingerprint records were not available, and authorities have opened a DNA inquiry to try to generate leads.
The case remains open and few concrete clues have emerged. If anyone has information about Luz Zamora-Alferez’s movements in 1984 or remembers seeing him around the time he was traveling, please contact law enforcement.
