On February 17, 1981, a home in Leesburg, Georgia, was the scene of a triple homicide. Ten-month-old Stephanie Renee Barnes, her three-year-old sister Amber Marie Barnes, and their mother Ivy Joyce Powell Barnes, 34, were found dead from gunshot wounds.
A local youth was arrested and charged in connection with the killings. At trial the defendant entered a plea of insanity; the jury accepted that plea and returned a verdict consistent with it, ending the criminal proceedings in this case.
If anyone knew the Barnes family or has information about what happened that February in Leesburg, please share what you remember.
