On the evening of July 3, 1974, Milford Carolyn Lawrence Allanson, 51, and her husband Walter O’Neal Allanson were found shot to death in the basement of their home in Zebulon, Georgia. The couple’s son, Tom Allanson, and his new wife Patricia became central to the investigation amid reports of family tension and disputes over the marriage.
Tom Allanson was arrested, convicted of his parents’ murders, and sentenced to life in prison. Over time Patricia emerged as a figure described as manipulative; she was never formally charged in the double homicide but later pleaded guilty to other crimes, including theft and attempted murder, under an agreement that reportedly spared her prosecution for the in‑laws’ deaths. Tom was eventually released, his conviction reassessed in light of Patricia’s role as described in later proceedings.
Many questions remain about who planned and carried out the shootings and about the plea agreement that left the murders legally unresolved. Does anyone have memories, documents, or additional details about the case or the people involved?
