Tyler Steven Hawker, 26, of Glenwood, Illinois, was shot and killed on August 22, 2022, at about 7:50 p.m. He was on the porch of a residence in the first block of Willow Lane when he was struck multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene; officers recovered several shell casings.
Prosecutors say Isaiah Collier, 35, of northwest Indiana, acted on a mistaken belief that Hawker had arranged a hit on Collier’s nephew. Surveillance footage shows Collier retrieving a dark object from a Ford F-150, then riding in the back seat of a Chevrolet Traverse with his cousin and uncle; the group parked a few blocks from the Willow Lane porch before Collier and his uncle approached Hawker and Collier allegedly opened fire. A 9mm semi-automatic and matching ammunition recovered from Collier after an August 25 traffic stop were later confirmed by the Illinois State Police crime lab as the weapon used in the shooting. Collier was charged with first-degree murder, held without bail, and his cousin and uncle were named as co-offenders but had not been charged at the time of the reports.
Was anyone in the neighborhood that evening aware of the Traverse or the parked Ford F-150?
