Ernest Durham, a 40-year-old African American man from Decatur, Illinois, was fatally shot on April 23, 2022. The shooting happened on a Saturday night in the 700 block of West Grand Avenue; Durham died of multiple gunshot wounds to the back, according to Macon County Coroner Michael Day. Two other people were wounded that night — a 21-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman — and were taken to hospital in stable condition.
