Jaylon Jones, 21, was shot and killed on April 12, 2022, at about 5 p.m. at the BP gas station at 951 E. 162nd Street in South Holland, Illinois. The Cook County medical examiner determined he died of multiple gunshot wounds and ruled the death a homicide. Jones lived in Chicago; his parents lived in South Holland.

South Holland police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force describe the incident as a targeted shooting. Officers found Jones with fatal injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 5:30 p.m. Investigators have reviewed gas station surveillance and interviewed witnesses but say the motive remains unclear. No arrests or publicly identified suspects have been announced.
